On Thursday January 15, at an Arcadia Chamber of Commerce Networking Breakfast event, The Arcadia Historical Society in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce recognized the Arcadia Woman’s Club as an Arcadia Business Icon for their many positive contributions to the Arcadia community since their early inception in 1914.
Chamber CEO and Historical Society Director Scott Hettrick provided members and guests with a brief outline of the Woman’s Club achievements over the last many years. Following Hettrick’s introduction, Arcadia City Clerk and Society President Gene Glasco acknowledged and commended Floretta Lauber (seated in the audience) for her three time presidency and fifty-three years of continuous membership. Glasco pointed out that among many other important achievements, the Woman’s Club was responsible for early development of Arcadia schools, founded the City’s first library, installed the first traffic signal on the corner of Huntington Drive and First Avenue, built the Amphitheater and Braille Trail at Wildnerness Park and in 1952 founded The Arcadia Historical Society.
An attractive Society certificate was presented to President Cheryl Alberg by Historical Society President, Gene Glasco along with a beautiful Chamber plaque awarded by CEO Scott Hettrick.
