It was standing room only at our January 16 General Meeting where guest speaker George Sanders, former Colonial Pharmacy owner and pharmacist told captivating stories about his childhood immigration from Hungary and his early enlistment in the US Army and his impressive rise from Army Private to Captain during his deployment in the WWII European theater where he participated in the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge earning the Bronze Star medal, the fourth highest individual military award, awarded for acts of heroism, acts of merit or meritorious service in a combat zone.
The Arcadia Historical Society strives to provide interesting topics and speakers in their continuing community outreach activities, as evidenced in this very successful meeting and member-guest turnout.
