For nine years, Carol Libby has opened her beautiful garden for a lovely tea event. Each year, attendance increases. This is an event where guests enjoy delectable sandwiches, delicious desserts and many prizes.
Through the years this Friends of the Arcadia Historical Society event has raised funds for historical needs. Some items donated to the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage were a podium with microphone, the dress on the Anita Baldwin figure and support for children’s projects. The Friends provided banners and support for the History Lives Here Markers for the Arcadia Historical Society.
Each year a donation is given to the Campership Program sponsored by the Arcadia Coordinating Council. For the past two years, the Ostashay Scholarship has been funded to honor a Police Explorer who plans to go on to the Arcadia Police Cadet Program.
The Friends most recently made a sizeable donation to the Police Foundation to support the canine project in which K-9 Zoli is now a vital part of the Arcadia Police Department.
The ninth annual Garden Tea will be on Sunday, May 21, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 438 W. Norman Ave. in Arcadia. The cost is $25 per person.
